Dr. Binod Baniya

Dr. Binod Baniya is an Assistant Professor at Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and a Visiting Scientist/Research Scholar in Environmental Science in national and international academia. He has published more than 40 scientific articles, including books and book chapters with Cambridge University Press. He earned his PhD from the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the CAS-TWAS President’s Fellowship and completed postdoctoral research as a Visiting Scientist at IGSNRR, Beijing, under the PIFI program. Dr. Baniya has over 20 years of experience in environmental research, teaching, and development projects with national and international collaborations. He has supervised dozens of Master’s theses and PhD students in Environmental Science at Tribhuvan University. His expertise includes eco-hydrology, climate change, and hydro-climatic extremes, particularly in the physical environment domain, with strong specialization in climate change modeling. He has served as a climate change expert and spatial analyst in various national and international projects supported by ADB, World Bank, FAO, NSFC, ANSO, ICIMOD, UGC, and the Newton Fund etc. During his academic career, he has served as Head of Department and Founding Coordinator of the M.Sc. Environmental Science program at Patan Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University, and has contributed as a subject committee member in Environmental Science under the Institute of Science and Technology, TU. Currently, Dr. Baniya is a member of the International Association of Natural Resources (iAONR) and is working as a foreign expert in a multinational research initiative on climate risks, including droughts, floods, and water resources in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin.

Mr. Yogesh Rana Magar

Environment & Development Expert with a decade of experience in Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH): Community Water Supply Projects, WASH in Emergency, Climate Resilient WASH, Disaster Management, Climate Change, Biodiversity Conservation, Behaviour Change Communication, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Solid Waste Management, Research, Teaching and Eastern Classical Music (Vocal). He is an experienced development professional with 10 years of expertise in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), behaviour change communication, disaster risk management, climate resilience, and inclusive development. Currently serving as a Disaster/Climate/Behaviour Change Communication Expert at Practical Action, he has held key roles with WaterAid Nepal, SNV Nepal, UNICEF, and other organizations, leading programme design, implementation, research, and policy engagement across Nepal. He have worked with international organizations like JICA, UNICEF directly. He had contributed on NDC 3.0 sectoral contribution. His work spans humanitarian response, systems strengthening, environmental assessment, and GESI integration, with strong competencies in project management, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, and stakeholder coordination. Yogesh has contributed to multiple national and international research publications on water quality, solid waste management, and biodiversity, and holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University. Recognized through several grants and research awards, he combines technical expertise, field experience, and academic contribution, with a strong commitment to advancing sustainable, resilient, and inclusive development in Nepal.

Mr. Sushil Khanal

Mr. Sushil Khanal

Mr. Sushil Khanal is a multidisciplinary professional with over 15 years of experience spanning environmental management, legal practice, academia, and organizational leadership. He currently serves as CEO of Sarvanga Hospital, leading strategic planning and governance, and as Chairman and Managing Director of REES Consultancy Nepal, overseeing environmental research and consultancy services. A licensed advocate, he actively practices civil and environmental law and contributes to climate governance and policy at national and international levels. He is also a faculty member at Patan Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University, specializing in climatology, urban sustainability, and solid waste management. His career includes advisory roles at the ministerial level, notably with the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. Holding master’s degrees in Disaster Risk Engineering, Environmental Management, and an LLM, his expertise covers EIA/IEE, disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, and socio-environmental research. He is committed to advancing sustainable development, legal integrity, and effective governance in Nepal.

Dr. Jayaram Karki is a senior academic and environmental professional currently serving as a teaching faculty in the MSc Environmental Management( Climate Change) stream at the School of Environmental Science and Management (SchEMS) under Pokhara University. With over 12 years of extensive experience in teaching and research, he has contributed significantly to the field of sustainable environment and climate governance. Prior to his current role, Dr. Karki was associated with the Global Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Education and served as a teaching faculty in the BPH program at Kathmandu University - GATE college. He has supervised more than 20 Master's level theses, primarily focused on climate change and environmental sustainability. His core areas of expertise include mountain environment, climate action, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate policy, and environmental diplomacy. In addition to academia, he has actively worked as an independent environmental consultant, contributing to projects supported by organizations such as the European Investment Bank (EIB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and the Nepal Environment Authority (NEA).& International organization- World Green Climate Association, South Korea. Dr. Amrit Prasad Sharma

Dr Amrit Prasad Sharma has been engaged in disaster risk management-from policy formulation to on-the-ground implementation since 2009. He holds a PhD in Hydraulic Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, specializing in hydraulic modeling of riverine floods, and is the developer of the Risk-Integrated Resilience (RiR) framework linking flood risk components with resilience attributes. Dr Sharma has worked across NGO (ECO-Nepal), INGO (terre des hommes, Germany), and academia at Tribhuvan University, and has served as an expert in projects supported by UNDP, ADB, and WB. His contributions include river basin master planning, community-based flood forecasting, and climate and multi-hazard risk assessments across the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. In recognition of his work, he was honored as a Young Scientist by Integrated Research on Disaster Risk in 2018. He has also been working as a Scientist under the American Geophysical Union-supported Thriving Earth Exchange program, contributing to develop a comprehensive flood risk mitigation framework in Palmer Township, Pennsylvania, USA. His research focuses on integrating open-channel hydraulics, hydrology, and flow modeling with community-based resilience to support evidence-based policy and planning. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Environmental Science subject at Patan Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Dr. Kamal Raj Gosai

Dr. Kamal Raj Gosai is an Assistant Professor and head of the Department of Environmental Science at Tr-Chandra Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University. Dr Gosai is an accomplished researcher in biodiversity conservation and environmental management. Holding dual Master’s degrees in Environmental Science and English, he researches avian ecology, urban biodiversity, and human–wildlife interactions, with a focus on species such as the Spiny Babbler and the Sarus Crane. He has led and contributed to numerous national and international research initiatives. Beyond academia, he has held key leadership roles in academic and non-government organizations. He is also the Co-Chair of the National Young Academy of Nepal (NaYAN) and the founding board member of Nepal One Health Institute (NOHI). Dr. Gosai has published nearly two dozen scientific papers and actively contributes to conferences and public discourse, promoting science-based conservation and sustainable development practices across Nepal.

Mr. Binod Prasad Parajuli

Binod Prasad Parajuli is a disaster risk and climate resilience professional working at the intersection of science, policy, and practice across Nepal and international platforms. He holds an MSc in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University and an MSc in Risk and Environmental Hazards from Durham University under the Chevening Scholarship. Recognized as a Young Global Changer, he has been following the UN climate change negotiation process since 2015 and recently served as an International Delegate under UAE Presidency at COP29, contributing to global climate discourse. He has worked with international agencies and development partners on multi-country initiatives and led the technical assessment and design of a national loss and damage assessment architecture for the Government of Bhutan. He is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Climate Resilience Research Lab (CRR Lab), where he leads applied research and innovation on climate risk analytics and decision-support systems. He has also pioneered a virtual reality-based climate education initiative, recognized by UNDRR as one of six global examples to watch on the use of immersive technologies for resilience building. His work focuses on generating field-grounded evidence on climate-induced loss and damage from floods, landslides, and GLOFs and translating it into risk-informed planning, early action systems, and policy-relevant solutions that connect local realities with global frameworks.

Mr. Upendra Raj Kuikel

Upendra Raj Kuikel is Chairman of a non-governmental organization called Digital Green Nepal. This organization works in various fields, with a special focus on digital and green sectors. Since the age of 21, he has been facilitating and coordinating various programs and projects, including the NNDSWO-SEED Tree Programme, UNDP/Park People Project, ANSAB-BDS MAPS, Winrock International-EIG, ECARDS-MSFEP, and IDE Nepal-ICCRIO/ANUKULAN, contributing to different initiatives for society and the country.

Mr. Prakash Kiran Jung Thapa

Mr. Prakash Kiran Jung Thapa is the Program Officer at WCN with M.Sc. in Environment and Natural Resources who is enthusiastic to work on noble and versatile projects. He has professional experience of seven-years in the field of environment. He has conducted multiple research studies on solid waste management in collaboration with different local government bodies which included the collection of baseline data, formation of action plans and designing of sanitary landfill sites, training different institutions regarding waste handling and management, and so on.
